Should you want to do some editing on these discs, there is a free program you can download to rip the files to your computer, click here to learn more about Handbrake.
Q: What kind of film can be transferred?
A: 8mm movie film, Super 8mm movie film (both sound and silent), and 16mm movie film.
Q: How much film will fit onto a DVD?
A: 8mm and super 8 approx: 1,800 feet, 16mm movie film approx: 3,200 feet.
Q: How do you transfer film?
A: We use the direct transfer method where a specially modified projector turns the film into a digital signal which is fed to our computer where it is processed. Our trained technicians will color correct, crop frame, enhance, and add music (if no sound is on the original film). Finally we add a title and chapter marks for easy navigation of the DVD. This method produces striking results!
Q: How do I arrange the films?
A: Most people like to arrange the reels in chronological order oldest to newest. Number the reels in the order you want. Our best advice is to look at every reel for clues, dates, anything that might indicate an order. With your best effort please label each reel in the order to be transferred.
Q: Do you edit the films?
A: We do our best to give you the absolute finest transfer possible. We edit out unwanted black and overexposed areas of the film.
Q: Do you add music?
A: We can add copyright free music & a beginning title to orders going to DVD at no extra cost, not available on videotape transfers.
Q: How much time does it take to transfer films?
A: Our normal turnaround time is 3-4 weeks (holidays and other periods of time may be needed). A rush service may be available for an additional fee. Please call.
